 Although sold in relatively small numbers, the early TY series was enormously successful in observed trials, and proved superbly reliable.  Wheel rims and other components have high magnesium content and need to be checked for corrosion. Steel tank rusts out. TY250A had carbon fibre sump guard, B model has alloy guard.

Alternator cover and flywheel differed between A and D models.
