Once you have your site up and running, there are many things
that can be done do to further improve it. One great way of building traffic
is to establish links with other similar sites. Email them with the offer
of a link exchange, and if they accept the offer, send the URL to your
programmer (here at Dropbears) with a request to add the link to your linkpage.
Of course you must check back at the site to ensure that the requested
reciprocal link is put in place.
A certain amount of programming will be done by Dropbears without charge,
as part of your maintenance contract. Programming can be a very time consuming
job, and the hours can be eaten up very fast indeed. If you'd like to improve
and expand your site further, but don't have lots of money to throw at
it, you might consider learning how to program in html yourself. Don't
laugh, it's not hard - not only is html an extremely simple language, but
much of it can be done without any real programming knowledge. All you
need is a good wysiwyg editor and you'll be churning out web pages in no
time at all.
So where do you get an editor? If you're running Netscape 4x, you probably
already have one. Try this - hit these keys - <alt> <f> <e>. If
you've popped into the Netscape editor, go to the help section, open help
contents, open creating web pages, and read on. It will probably take a
few hours to start getting a grasp on how it all works, but in no time
at all you'll have the basics. With practise, you'll be able to modify
your own pages and create new ones. If you decide you'd like to do this,
contact us and we'll give you more information.
