Periods and Caps in FB Names:
Why Facebook? As I drove through Sydney a few years back with my son who's also in IT the subject of Facebook came up. He had not considered the matter and only used it for personal communications with friends and family. As I was making my point about FB being an important business tool we passed a billboard for Dell computers. Writ large was not its dot com but its Facebook address.… moments later a bus went past advertising a prominent bank - same story with the FB address. I go through this with many clients. Why do we need it?. What does it do?. How does it work?. When will we see results? It's just for kids, they say. In short, "But *why*, Daddy?" You would not believe the rigmarole I have to go through sometimes just to get the email address of a family member who speaks internet rather than one who prefers to graffiti the local computer store with "Luddites Rule, OK!". Hope this amuses you. I had fun writing it. :)
Friends vs Fans Q: What is the differnce between friends and likes. Can I send notices to both? A: Friends are people to whom you've connected via your personal profile. Some connect only to those they know, others connect to hundreds, many of whom they've never met. Likes are people who have approved of your page by "liking" it. Most are people you've never heard of. By liking your business page, they are party to posts you make on it. If they spot something that interests them, they may tell their friends, and the friends may like you too. You can send messages directly to your friends via your personal page. As far as I'm aware you cannot message fans (likers) directly via your business page. You can however pay to promote a post. This page will give a little more insight into how it works:
