were made for the U.S. Army and which was once referred to by Confederate
Artilleryman Col. E. Porter Alexander as "The Beautiful United States Ordnance
Rifle." Pewter miniature was researched and authenticated by historians
and painstakingly hand-painted. Includes historical background. 1:32 scale.
12-pounder
Napoleon Field Gun
Artillerymen
favored Napoleons because their bronze barrels were stronger than those
made of iron - thus there was less chance that a gun would burst during
firing and kill or wound the crew. Measures 15"x 10"x 6".
Model
1857 Napoleon Field Gun
The Model 1857 Napoleon
was the most popular, common, and deadly field piece of the Civil War.
The smooth-bored barrel - designed originally in France - was made of bronze
and fired a 12.3 lb. projectile to a maximum effective range of about 1,600
yards. This exquisite replica is 29" long and 11" high.
