Valley Genealogies Relating Chiefly to Families in Harrison, Belmont and...
by Charles A. Hanna
Book Description: This popular work contains genealogies of
the first families who settled in Pennsylvania between the Blue Ridge Mountains
and the Alleghenies, and genealogies of those families who migrated across
the Ohio River and made the first settlements in the Northwest Territory,
now part of Ohio. About 350 families are listed in alphabetical order,
with records of the first immigrant settler, including place and date of
birth and death, place of residence, name of wife and date of marriage,
names of children and their dates and places of birth, and names of grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.

The
Powhatan Cemetery Interment And Lot Records Of Powhatan Point, Ohio
by Ellen Carpenter Massey
Book Description: 344pp. soft cover, indexed. 1999. The Powhatan
Cemetery Association, of Powhatan Point, Belmont County, Ohio was formed
on 28 April 1888 on land donated by Aaron F. Ramsay, Sr. The Association
now owns over 24 acres of land with almost 2,200 lots. Most of the cemetery
lots have four to eight graves, and thus when totally full the cemetery
will contain over 10,000 burials.
These records contain dates of interment not death, keeping in mind
the usual short delay before burial to estimate a date of death for an
individual. In some instances, though, some bodies were moved to this cemetery
many years after death.
This book is a comprehensive study relating to cemetery records of Powhatan
Point and as such is of great value to researchers seeking relatives from
that region.

Darke County, Ohio, Marriages, 1817-1840 & Darke County, Ohio,
Will Abstracts 1818-1857
(2 Volumes in 1)
by Anita Short, Ruth Bowers
Book Description: Darke County, Ohio was formed in 1809 from
Miami County. Ruth Bowers and Anita Short, the editors of the acclaimed
Ohio genealogical periodical Gateway to the West, have here abstracted
the earliest marriage and will records available for Darke County. Originally
published as two separate volumes, the marriage and will record abstracts
are here combined in one book, complete with an all new, full-name index
following each of the two parts of this consolidated edition. The first
part, the marriages, which is arranged alphabetically by the name of the
bridegroom, gives, in addition, the name of the bride, the date of the
marriage, the name of the justice of the peace, and a citation to the original
court record. The will abstracts give the name of the testator, dates the
will was written and recorded, names of wives and children, name of the
executor, and the names of witnesses. The compilers have abstracted all
other pertinent genealogical material from the wills where available, such
as the location of land owned by the deceased. All told, this work identifies
some 8,000 early residents of Darke County, Ohio.
