I read these books when I was a kid, and didn't realize what was going on. Was Laura Lee Hope some sort of racist, or just writing about an idealized childhood? There's black people in these books, and they're all house staff and in menial jobs. Sometimes they even talk as though they're dimwitted... more info

Bert was elected to be in charge of the museum at school. Then, the most valuable trophy in the whole museum was stolen! I really liked some of the details in this book, like the dog that could sniff out the bad guys and do really neat tricks! I recommend reading this book because it is funny,... more info
