This book has beautiful pictures and is worth buying for that reason alone. However, I thought the presentation of the content, although very informative, was a bit dry. My son was bored before the end, and he usually has a surprisingly long attention span.

I find that with a younger child, you may just want to look at the pictures and add some of your own narration as the text is wordy and intended for an older (school aged?) child, but it is nonetheless... more info
