| | 3. | | Kyoto (City Guide) from Lonely Planet Price: $43.33
Customer Review:
I used this book along with three others on a recent trip to Kyoto. Some of the negative criticisms of earlier reviewers seem to have been corrected, though not entirely. But no other general guide (with a Kyoto section as part of a Japan guide) was more useful. I have some criticisms, but it is a... more info

| | 4. | [no image] | The Lady and the Monk from Black Swan
Customer Review:
When I think of The Lady and the Monk, I can't think of one coherent theme in the book. It seems to be more about the incoherent ramblings of a Santa Barbra hippie than a treatise on travel or finding one's self. I feel dumber for having read this and I hope Mr. Iyer never writes anything again.

| | 5. | | A Guide to the Gardens of Kyoto from Kodansha International Price: $13.19
Customer Review:
A very detailed guide book that provides a lot more information than the average guide book. It is particularly useful for those who require more in depth information on understanding the gardens and the buildings within them. Delivery was fast and efficient.

Customer Review:
this is a book about not so common visited places, although tere are also some very "touristic" places. the pictures are nice to good, it gives a good overview about Kyoto. I was a little disapointed that the Nanzenji temple is not commented. but if you are fond of Japanese gardens it is a good... more info

| | 10. | [no image] | Kyoto: A Contemplative Guide from Tuttle Publishing
Customer Review:
I totally agree with the previous reviewer. This is the best and ONLY guidebook to Kyoto - the story of Kyoto's history through the story of a succession of temples and palaces, each of which typifies that period. Beautifully and gently written. Wonderful wonderful stuff. Tragically I've lost my... more info
