Customer Review: The pictures and historical information are what made me decide to take this with me on my trip. I still like Lonely Planet, though, because they help you form a better plan for how you'll get around and the best route to take.
Customer Review: This book is filled with the knowledge of vast experience and travel. If you want a book that doesn't just give the religiously naive and superstitious what they want to hear (like so many do), then this is your book. Excellent in several ways.
Customer Review: Although Lonely Planet guides are generally good, this one was a major disappointment. It has a very, very one sided pro-Arab and anti-Israel spin to it. Many Jewish areas are glossed over and not given enough detail. Jewish sites in the territories are completely ignored. Much time, space, and... more info
Customer Review: I never go to Israel without two of these. I am a map-o-phile and personally have many maps of Israel and Jerusalem. Some are in English and some are in Hebrew. This is the ONE map of Jerusalem that I highly reccomend to those who visit Israel with us. It's laminated, accordion-fold and easy to... more info
Customer Review: This is a really good book if you are going to travel to Israel.
I found so much to help me. I have now taken the trip and am going
over some of the things written. It was surprising because I was able to meet the author before the trip and he gave me many pointers. He is remarkable.
Customer Review: This is a fairly bland tourist guide to Israel. Don't expect it to lead you anywhere that the Israel tourist information map won't. It'll give you telephone numbers for the sheratons, but not much off the beaten track. There are some big gaps, including almost no mention of the elephant in the room:... more info
Customer Review: This was a fascinating and educational book. I learned so much from reading
it and although the author referred many times to the Hebrew Bible, I found the King James version very similar to the scriptures he quoted. The main thing however; was his ability to describe all the biblical sites... more info
Customer Review: Wonderful companion to an actual visit to the Holy Land. Good format which starts with the historical and geographical information, followed by the appropriate scripture passage telling the biblical significance, and followed by a short story type meditation. I used this book throughout my visit to... more info
Customer Review: Fills in some bits of info, but not good as a guide book. Something entitled "How To Walk in the Footsteps of Jesus" should be fairly expected to have a map of Jesus' travels during his ministry, but there is none. No map of Galilee or what there would be to see to trace Jesus' ministry. Terrible... more info
