| | 1. | | The Sidewinder by Lee Morgan Price: $7.97
Customer Review:
This is another one of those recordings that I picked up on a whim only because it was recommended by The Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings: Eighth Edition (Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings). One listen and I was hooked like a dolphin in a tuna net. If your foot doesn't start tapping the minute the... more info

| | 2. | | Midnight Blue by Kenny Burrell Price: $7.97
Customer Review:
Kenny Burrell`s "Midnight Blue" is surely familiar to every Jazz lover. I found a very interesting aspect of his guitar playing listening to Illinois Jaquet`s recordings from the sixties. Excellent guitar playing, fine nuances, extraordinary emotional "Stimmung"!

| | 3. | | The Mix-Up by Beastie Boys Price: $13.99
Customer Review:
The Besties have abandoned their strengths and are now playing pretend in the deep end of the pool. Take a listen to Medeski Martin and Wood, or Garaj Mahal. In the vernacular, they are now biting some styles, and the result is WACK. As a hip hop crew, they are untouchable, as a funky jazz combo,... more info

| | 4. | | Let's Go Everywhere (Dig) by Martin & Wood Medeski Price: $13.99
Customer Review:
I have read other reviews that say this CD is fun for parents and kids alike. I cannot agree more. My husband and I love that when it is still in the CD player in the car and we are out on our own we don't feel compelled to change to something else. I got the CD based on my 15 month old son's... more info

| | 5. | | Song for My Father by Horace Silver Price: $7.97
Customer Review:
I originally purchased this album in 1964. It was one of my favorites then and it still is. Silver's hard charging jazz is a benchmark piece for this period. Excellent solo work by Blue Mitchell and Junior Cook are excellent.
I feel that this is a "must have" album for fans of jazz in the 50's... more info

| | 7. | | Idle Moments by Grant Green Price: $7.97
Customer Review:
The title track is likely to hit the listener with the force of Hera's heavenly ethers seducing Zeus. It's some of the most relaxed, unforced playing on record, the musicians all sharing an empathetic wave length in a kind of suspended telepathic or mystical state. Coming as the last tune of the... more info

| | 9. | | Mercy, Mercy, Mercy! Live at 'The Club' by Cannonball Adderley Quintet Price: $7.97
Customer Review:
I love this CD, especially tracks 3 and 4 (which flow from one to another live). Track 4, "That's called The Sticks, ladies and gentlemen, The Sticks, thank you.", has the coolest solo hand-off ever. The trumpet wraps his solo up with some double-tonguing that is truly amazing... until the saxophone... more info

| | 10. | | Winelight by Jr. Grover Washington Price: $11.98
Customer Review:
This album is completely different in character from all Groover Washington's other offerings particulary of the 70s. Although his saxophone style can still be recongnised, I would have sworn is was done by another artist. Maybe it was the influence of Bill Withers on the production. By it showed a... more info
