I bought this movie because it ia my favorite western, however after watching it without any problems, it will no longer play. It was handled with the utmost care, no scratches, didn't touch surface, next time I inserted it, just would not load. All of my other DVD's work fine. The Big Country

Customer Review:
This movie made a lasting impression on me as a boy In Houston at the Cinerama theater on Richmond Ave. Peck, Stewart, Reynolds, Widmark, Peppard (underrated) and narration by none other than Spencer Tracy. I also saw 2001 and Grand Prix (racing classic) in this format. I suppose

| | 3. | | Only the Valiant (B&W) from Republic Pictures
Customer Review:
Very good western with strong cast. Gregory Peck does an excellent job as a captain in the cavalry wrongly blamed for the death of a popular officer at the hands of the Apaches. Film has much in the way of drama and suspense.

Customer Review:
This has to rank as one of the worst westerns ever. Dumb plot, and actors who clearly didn't know what they were getting into until too late. Don't say no one warned you.

Customer Review:
Wonderful movie! I loved the way the silence brooding over the Southwest landscape is reflected in the film: in Varner's strong, stoic character; in the taciturn scowl of the Indian boy; in the silent menace of Salvaje (correct spelling?)Two things, though, about the DVD. First, if you've seen the... more info
