| | 1. | | Killing Rommel: A Novel from Doubleday Price: $16.47
Customer Review:
As the old saying goes you can never tell a book by its cover. It was certainly true in this case. I had minimal expectations since I had never heard of Pressfield and the title wasn't much and the cover was sort of garish, but I had read some reviews which were pretty good and since historical... more info

| | 2. | | The Rommel Papers (Da Capo Paperback) from Da Capo Press Price: $16.32
Customer Review:
This is a fantastic book. The number of pages at first daunted me, but (after the first few which are kind of so-so), the book just takes off! He not only talks about the campaigns that he fought in, but he also breaks down what he learned and what should and should not have been in each one. What... more info

| | 3. | | Attacks from Athena Pr Price: $17.50
Customer Review:
Company level actions in WWI. Written by Rommel after WWI, there is nothing about tanks in this book but plenty about taking the initiative and aggressive maneuver. The core of Rommel's later style of warfare is on display here. The English translation is very readable.

Code of honor was important to him to where he cut the limited water rations of his own troops so that their prisoners would not... more info

| | 7. | [no image] | The Trail of the Fox from E P Dutton
Customer Review:
Irving's "Trail of the Fox" is not your typical biography. It is a fast-paced, almost novelistic read that moves swiftly through the career of this legendary soldier, trying to give the reader a taste of the man rather than an exhaustive list of his doings and accomplishments. Using his close... more info

Rommel and Carporetto is one of the best books on World War One I have read. Why? First It gives an good description of the battle of Carporetto, the retreat and pursuit and the defense that finally brought the offensive to a halt from both the Italian and Austro-German perspective.
