Customer Review: Douglas Niles and Michael Dobson have written an exciting and thought-provoking book about how World War II in the Pacific might have turned out if a few things went differently than they did originally. As the book begins, the United states Navy is reeling from its defeat at the battle of... more info
Customer Review: Kevin Sheehan has simplified the great qualities of important leaders and placed them in an entertaining text. A gift which I have passed on to my dearest friends, this book is both inspirational and educational. My highest recommendation.
Customer Review: This superb biography examines the many sides to General Douglas MacArthur (1880-1964); superb commander in war and peace, vain malcontent, and megalomaniac. The author begins by examining his famous father`s service in the Civil War. Then we learn of MacArthur's upbringing and days at West Point... more info
Customer Review: If you want to learn about MacArthur's life, this book works well. However, it goes far beyond that in the detail it provides and the analysis. Manchester provides good commentary on MacArthur, his strategies, and politics. One of the most interesting things was the notion of how much MacArthur had... more info
Customer Review: Manchester is unequalled as a biographer. He is clear, detailed, thorough and readable. It is difficult to determined whethor or not he liked, admired, or respected MacArthur; he presents all sides of MacArthur's personality and deeds and leaves it to the reader to judge the merits.
Customer Review: To use MacArthur as a management model is a corruption of the term. What next, Risk Management by Admiral Kimmel and General Short. The writers of this book obviously have never reviewed the General's career and his actions. Since when as megalomania, persecution complex and wishful thinking been... more info

Customer Review: The author is known for his previous book, "Doomed From The Start" which is the history of the USAAF's fighters' struggles in the Philippines from December 8, 1941 until the surrender of Bataan. It was ground breaking hisotry and is the standard reference on the subject. This book looks at the... more info
Customer Review: Geoffrey Perret has written a very enjoyable biography on one of the most colorful, brilliant and important generals in United States history. I particularly enjoyed this biography since it focuses on General MacArthur's achievements without ignoring (but not fixating on) his flaws. In this... more info
