I realy liked this book. The author has spend a lot of effort reserching and producing an original work that argues well that these ships deserve more credit than they get. Very slim but well work the read.

In this book, Rif Winfield has gone at least one step further than most authors by including all there is to know about every single Royal Navy warship between... more info
Customer Review: There was a time when I thought I knew the difference between a Frigate, a Sloop and a Brig, but then I began to get quite confused. Now that I have had time to study this particular work on the subject, I realise just how much I was confused to start with. Thankfully, all is now becoming quite... more info

The author actually served in the British navy in WWII and his book pulls you in, gives you an idea of what is was really like to be on the Hood, or on the Bismarck during its final battle. It also gives you an idea of what the Hood... more info
Customer Review: A more appropriate title for this book might have been "Dreadnought Fire Control" as that represents at least 90% of the contents. Very little is devoted to "Gunnery" and almost nothing is said about "Guns" - and even that small amount is unreliable, even to the point of getting the caliber (bore... more info
