Customer Review: This book recounts the catastrophic defeat of the German Army Group Center in Bielorussia in the summer of 1944 and the reasons behind the colossal Soviet success. It is full of operational details and no stone has been left unturned. The reader will not find in this book great war stories, personal... more info
Customer Review: In this follow-on to the author's "Quest for Decisive Victory", Citino analyzes how armies from World War 2 on achieved or failed to achieve decisive victories, including many cases rarely mentioned in other military histories. Although not quite meeting the extremely high standard set by the... more info
Customer Review: There are several excellent reviews of this book in existence, and I focus my review mostly on details not covered by them. This review is based on the 2004 hardback edition. Customer Review: Nazi Germany's spring offensive of 1940 opened a new chapter in warfare -- never before, in the long history of European conflict, had a victorious campaign of such magnitude (and brevity) been seen. Customer Review: Pier Paolo Battistelli's PANZER DIVISIONS: THE BLITZKRIEG YEARS 1939-40 follows a German division relatively late to armored warfare, but which formed a formidable 'lightning war' contribution to its side. This focus on the tactics, weaponry and strategies of the Panzer Divisions is an excellent... more info
Customer Review: This book is a good starting point for understanding German military developments in mechanized warfare during the interwar years. Alternately, if you only wanted to read one book on the subject, this would be a good choice. Easy to read, makes clear points, and covers a fair amount of territory.
