Customer Review: There was nothing wrong with this product. My daughter dropped the class in college that required this book; therefore, she didn't need the book any longer.
Customer Review: I have worked with both Anne Bogart and Tina Landau and grew to appreciate their unique approach. It is good to see their way of working in print finally. The book is a great resource for all who have some appreciation for what goes into making a piece of theatre. It will especially pique the... more info
Customer Review: If you are a ballet teacher, and aren't able to take master classes very often, this is a good book for you. The lessons sparked new choreography for me, and provided a different perspective to age/skill set; however, the lessons were also developed by a man whose job was to train ballet students to... more info
Customer Review: This book uses a lot of words, but fails to make clear how to master a dance step. Disappointing. It makes a good coffee table book (one leg was shorter than the rest.)
Customer Review: The book is an entertaining read with photos rounding out the text. Once Gypsy hits the big time, towards the end of the book, the story's excitement wanes, the struggle for show biz success being more intriguing than the victory itself. Overall, worth a read, especially on vacation as a beach read.

As a pole instructor - I focus more on tricks than dance, fitness vs. sensuality - I did find a few things in this book I would like to add to my warm ups. I've never been an exotic dancer a day in my life so I cannot comment on other sections... more info

My Moms always ask when their daughter will be "ready" Now I have some recommended reading when the simple answers I give are... more info
Customer Review: Written during the Balanchine era, this book works in a way that can actually encourage an eating disorder or create more motivation for someone who already has one. This comes from someone with an eating disorder. While this book does have interesting information and even a couple pages to identity... more info
Customer Review: Well researched and referenced and very well written in an almost conversational type tone. I'm a folk based dancer and would recommend this to not just ballet dancers but anyone interested in debunking some of the movement myths we get fed in the dance world that are misleading and sometimes... more info
