| | 1. | [no image] | Story of O from Grove Press : distributed by Whirlwind Book Co
Customer Review:
This book is so eloquently and beautifully written particularly given the dark topic. I loved how the author painted a colorful picture for me of O's life, surroundings, experiences, acquaintances through such descriptive yet discreet verbage. A must-read for anyone interested in BDSM.

| | 3. | | Story of the Eye from City Lights Publishers Price: $9.95
Customer Review:
This is the strangest book I have ever read. But I am learning now as a grown women that not every thing in a is about Monsters or happy endings. This is a dark and disturbing book that is very thought prevoking. I feel as though I am reading a secret diary and I love it. Makes me look at me and how... more info

| | 4. | | A Sport and a Pastime: A Novel from Farrar, Straus and Giroux Price: $10.40
Customer Review:
Dean is an American college dropout visiting France and who meets the narrator through a social dinner. The story focuses on Dean's relationship with a young French woman and on the narrator, who remains quite an outsider but totally in awe of Dean. This book is atmospheric and haunting. Salter... more info

| | 5. | | The 120 Days of Sodom and Other Writings from Grove Press Price: $12.21
Customer Review:
Many have said that the 120 Days of Sodom is a disgusting work, full of nothing but sado-masochism and torture. Though the latter may be true, one must look at this work objectively, and realize that it is a blatant statement against Fascism, and all the horror of what happens when absolute power is... more info

| | 6. | | The Garden of Eden (Unabridged) from audible.com Price: $15.73
Customer Review:
This was my second reading of the novel and I found it even more enjoyable than the first. My feelings about the writing are that it was multi layered and textured--much more abstract than the immature writing evident in FAREWELL. I think that the cryptic nature of the novel only served to intrigue.... more info

| | 8. | | The Sexual Life of Catherine M. from Grove Press Price: $9.60
Customer Review:
I thought this was an interesting read, though it gets a little dry and to be honest I read it in parts. The narrative structure is loose and that makes it a little bit difficult to read, as she just tends to skip around and some of the wording is hard to wade through, but I think that has a lot to... more info

| | 9. | | Juliette from Grove Press Price: $14.93
Customer Review:
What can I say? The Characters (except for Juliette herself) are uninteresting and hollow. The Plot... there is no plot. Juliette is a series of episodes, much like Candid, except Voltaire didn't drag it out for over a thousand pages. Depending upon how you interpret it, Juliette is... more info

Customer Review:
**** THE FOLLOWING REVIEW PERTAINS ONLY TO THIS "NEW TRAVELLER'S COMPANION" EDITION OF THE TORTURE GARDEN **** Other reviewers here have eloquently discussed the merits of Mirbeau's The Torture Garden, and I have nothing to add about the book itself. This edition, however, is cheap and... more info
