Customer Review: Having been in Hue in early January 1968, the subject book clearly displays the devastation that occurred in February and March 68. This book is best read after reading Hamel's companion book, Fire In The Streets. The pictures complete the story.
Customer Review: I purchased this book to give to my brother-in-law who fought in the battle on Iwo Jima. He is suffering with Parkinsons and over the past couple of years has discussed his experiences on Iwo Jima more than ever. This book is filled with photographs taken mostly by the Marine Corps and has brought... more info
Customer Review: I have read many books on Tarawa and this is the best. It has many photos I have not seen before and yet had room to describe the battle in detail
Customer Review: Little is heard about the fighting on the Golan Heights between Israeli & Syrian forces during the Yom Kippur war, but those familiar with the terrain & environs of the Golan Heights & the Galilee region as a whole, can have little doubt as to the difficulties facing the combatants on... more info
Customer Review: I was one of those corporals that Eric Hammel mentions on page 303 who served as a platoon commander of Bravo 1/5. Mr. Hammel has meticulously constructed a book that is an enjoyable read and an important one for everyone who wants to understand what it was like to participate at the front line. It... more info

This was a critical battle which allowed the First Marine Division defenders on Guadalcanal to continue to consolidate its position. The blow by blow narrative of the air battle is so detailed... more info

It was a book you should have. Great pictures that I have not seen before. However Amazon's service is something to be desired. The... more info
Customer Review: Born in 1940, I lived a serene childhood during the War. Our hardships were rationing and blackouts. My like-age cousin in Southwestern Germany dodged bombs and tanks, lost her father somewhere on the Eastern Front and our great uncle when their town was overrun. Like her, I knew we were at war. Our... more info

It is quite readable, in spite the rich detail it goes into. The section (about 1/3 of the book) on the units exploits during the Battle... more info
