Editorial Review:

Iron like a laundry professional, and dress impeccably, with a little help from the ROWENTA Perfect Iron! Vertical Steam allows iron to be used in upright position to remove wrinkles from hanging garments and drapes Revolutionary Intra-Steam system pushes steam deeply into fabric for superior results 3-Way Automatic Shut-off - 8 minutes vertical, 30 seconds horizontal, 30 seconds if tipped over Large, transparent water tank Platinum sole plate optimizes steam distribution, glideability and scratch resistant properties

Since the first Rowenta iron in 1912, the company's clothing-care products have been on the forefront of innovative technology. The 1600-watt Perfect Steam iron continues Rowenta's exacting standards with top-shelf construction and truly helpful features. Designed to iron dry or with variable steam, the iron has fine-tunable settings that let you choose heat according to fabric type, then set the steam level. The Intra-Steam system pushes horizontal steam deep into fabric. The iron also steams vertically for hanging clothes and draperies. A steam-burst button lets you blast stubborn wrinkles, and a spray function spritzes fabric as you go. Equipped with LED indicator lights, the handle-mounted electronic temperature control indicates when the soleplate is ready, too hot, too cool, or in automatic shut-off mode. All controls are easy to set, sturdy in construction, and unlikely to slip.

The Perfect Steam comes with a platinum soleplate for effortless glide and incredible durability. It has a sleek teardrop shape, a full-length button channel, and an anti-drip design. Rowenta also equips the iron with three-way automatic shut-off: after 8 minutes if left vertically, 30 seconds if left horizontally, and 30 seconds if tipped over. Large and comfortable in the hand, the iron holds up to 13 ounces of water at a time in a translucent tank. The tank's opening is among the cleverest on the market--a tidy lid pushes in for filling and releases for closure. The iron also comes with an anti-calc system to trap scale and deposits that could interfere with its performance. Measuring 12 by 5 by 6-3/4 inches, the Perfect Steam is made in Germany, and has a full one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard

From the Manufacturer

The DX-9800 has been engineered around major technical innovations of the three core functions of an iron: heat, steam, and the soleplate. The Intra Steam system "pulses" the steam, creating the perfect cycle of steam and pressing. The Thermo Control system uses an electronic sensor that measures and maintains an even temperature in the soleplate.  The Platinium soleplate combines outstanding glide and non-stick, non-scratch properties. Its stainless steel core coated with ultra-thin silicate coating for a tougher, smoother surface with excellent non-stick and non-scratch properties.

The Next Level in Irons

The revolutionary Intra Steam system forces pressurized steam deep into the garment, "pulsing" the steam at regular intervals for the perfect cycle of steam and pressing. The DX-9800 has a number of other features designed to make ironing easier and more successful. The iron's Thermo Control is an advanced electronic thermostat for accurate control of soleplate temperature. Also, the Anti-Drip function helps prevent spitting and leaking when thermostat is on a low setting, while the Anti Calc function neutralizes harmful minerals, extending the life of the iron, and the burst of vertical steam feature provides effective wrinkle removal on all types of fabrics.

This iron, like all Rowenta irons, is ergonomically designed for comfort, with thumb grips and index finger grooves, and easily used by both left and right handed user,. Its new comfort handles is soft and resilient, with silicon rubber pads that provide support and relieve pressure at key contact points between hand and handle. The non-slip texture and pattern provides a firm grip for precision control.

  • Leaking the first time I use it
Wow, what a waste of money. The first time I used it, it leaked all over my clothes. It is going back!

  • Disappointed at all Rowentas
I am on my 4th Rowenta (this one a company replacement - two of the others just months out of warranty). How stupid am I? Would anyone buy 3 of these things? Believe me when the current one dies - and it will in a matter of months - there will be NO MORE made in China pieces of junk like Rowenta irons. My first was a gift - I loved it for the sewing I do - it quit steaming at 2 years. Stupidly I bought a second - it wouldn't heat up - 15 months after purchase. The third lasted 6 months before the auto-off... more info

  • Don't buy this
This is my first Rowenta. Though it was way too expensive, I bought this thinking that it'll save time. Its not vastly different from the Sunbeams that you get in WalMart or KMart. Worst part is it spews out brown water every now and then. I couldn't quite figure out what's causing that. This morning it spoiled my white shirt. I have heard good things about Rowenta. But this model is certainly not worth it.

  • leaking already
This iron just like the last Rowenta is leaking. I won't buy another one. I thought Rowenta was the brand to get even though higher priced. I am unpleasantly surprised. It is not worth the money.
