Editorial Review:

Dyson DC07 upright vacuum cleaner with patented Root8Cyclone technology has double the suction of other vacuums. Tests show Dyson's suction is double after 10 ounces of dust. Others lose suction - the more you use them, the less they work.

A piece of engineering wizardry created by James Dyson, inventor of the cyclonic vacuum, the 12-amp Dyson DC07 upright with floor tool combines unparalleled power with structural advances. At the center of the machine's innovation is the Cyclone air path design, an eight-section chamber that creates powerful, consistent suction. The conical chambers generate 100,000 g of centrifugal force, pushing dust and dirt out of the airflow into the vacuum's 1-gallon collection cup. With no bag to clog, the vacuum's 270 air watts of suction remain steady. The large, transparent collection cup is easy to check and empties tidily--pop it off, hold it over a trash bin, and pull the trigger to release dirt without having to touch it. The DC07 also comes equipped with a multipart filtration system to improve overall air quality in the home. The HEPA filter, measuring 412 square inches in surface area, traps microscopic particulates and allergens. Expertly built, the filter is designed to last the lifetime of the machine.

Suitable for bare floors and carpets, the Dyson upright features a 14-inch cleaning path and edge-cleaning bristles. A simple foot pedal switches off the brush roll for bare floors, and the nozzle automatically adjusts for changes in carpet height. The floor tool featured on this model makes for straightforward nozzle vacuuming where you usually struggle with a hose. Its ultralow profile needs only 3-1/2 inches of clearance, so it reaches easily under sofas, beds, and low chairs. For above-floor cleaning, the vacuum comes with a cleverly stowed, 17-foot quick-release hose. The hose's handle reverses to an extension wand, and onboard accessories include a crevice tool, a dusting brush, and an upholstery attachment. Made from the same material used in crash helmets, the vacuum is unquestionably durable. Plus, the design only puts 4 pounds of weight on the handle, so pushing and turning is easy. This model comes with a 35-foot power cord and a limited two-year household warranty. --Emily Bedard

  • Waste of money
Although it had good suction, its not worth the money! Every year the hose broke in the same spot and we needed to get a new one. Since we did not have the new five year warranty buying a hose would become a costly expense. Dyson did mention they were having problems with this but nothing ever seemed to come about it. After the warranty expired they wanted nothing to do with us and expected us to keep purchasing hoses for a machine that we paid $400 for. I feel that if you're going to make a product that... more info

  • Powerful but hose breaks
While I like this Dyson and it picks up great it certainly does clog (it picks up things not meant to be sucked up), it also loses suction when the filter piece dislodges (which it does often), and, we've had to replace the pull out hose twice (I am writing now because I'm now ordering a third. I vacuum two-three times a day and I think this may be too much for this vacuum. I expected more from a $450 vacuum.

  • Pay a little more but your house will be much cleaner...
If you own a pet, the Dyson is a must. I purchased the low reach and I could not be happier. When it arrived, I had to fight my husband to get to use it. We were shocked at the amount of dirt and dog hair the vacuum was able to pick up the 1st time on the carpets. I used to vacuum daily because of the dog hair, now I can use the Dyson three times a week and my rugs look cleaner and better then ever. I also notice that the air in the house has less "dust" after I use the Dyson. I am so happy with this... more info

  • Beyond Eureka!
This is the first Dyson vacuum cleaner that I've ever had the pleasure to own or use. Yes, pleasure. I love this vacuum. I'm a regular vacuum freak and thought that my house was clean. Imagine my surprise to see that this machine has sucked up more fine dust, dirt, and dingo (o.k. maybe not dingo, but ordinary dog hair) than I ever thought possible.
If you've never owned a Dyson, do yourself a favor and read the owner's manual before assembly and use. It is a little more complicated than plug and go,... more info
