BEWARE! this iron is great for about 2 years I've had this iron for two years and paid $100.00US for it, I have taken very good care of this iron and have used it on one shirt and one pair of pants 5 days a week for the past two years. Until last Wednesday it has been a wonderful value, the iron is built so well it almost irons by itself. On Wednesday the power cord shorted out, if you google it, you will find that many other customers have had the same problem. The solution is to pay $50.00 to have it repaired or buy a new one. Rowenta Professional Luxe DM880-no useful service life I own the above appliance for 3 years. It has a wonderful design and when new, functioned admirably. Well worth the 100+ dollars spent. Unfortunately, the service life is extremely short. Used for household ironing only, and not very much in my opinion, the on-light now frequently cycles between red and orange so you are never sure if it is heating properly. Heat I used a British iron from this German manufacturer in England. It was unreal with heat. Although the American one is not quite as high in heat, it is still an excellent iron. Only thing I really hate about it (when using starch, you have to clean with a soft scrub because of buildup).
Not worth it I purchased this iron February 2004, believing that it was a top of the line product. This iron caught on fire while ironing, I had it for approximately 1 1/2 years. I have had ten dollar irons that have lasted longer than this. I'm very disappointed with this product. Joel
