Editorial Review:
For those seeking a midsize jointer for the long haul, this 6-inch model is a great find suitable for the professional workplace or serious home woodshop. Powered by Delta's trusted 1-horsepower induction motor, the three-blade drum spins quietly in its cast-iron bed. Adjusting with rack-and-pinion precision, the fence tilts 45 degrees in and out with positive stops at 90 and 45 degrees for beveling and chamfering applications. Delta realizes the use of heavy machinery carries a great risk of injury; consequently, they designed this jointer with a large, easily accessible on/off paddle switch at shoulder height on the right side--a feature for which we have much respect. Thanks to industrial-grade infeed and outfeed tables, even longer 6-inch-wide planks get the support they need as you remove up to 1/2 of an inch of material to the collection port on each pass. So you want to increase your edge on the competition? Delta feels the same way. --Justin Paul

Good jointer, but overpriced for what it is I've had this jointer for quite a while now. I got one of the original batch that had a warped fence. Took me about 2 years to finally get around and request a replacement from Delta which they sent out very quickly. The new fence was fine and that was the only issue I have had with the machine. Fit and finish on it were fine, the jointer bed is a little short but is in line with other 6" jointers in the market. It runs smoothly enough and the fence is easy to operate but does stick out a bit in the... more info
Setup problem, but solid equipment I had a setup problem aligning the motor and cutter head pulleys. After a call to Delta they had me flip the cutter head pulley to bring it into alignment: easier said than done...I had
to heat it with a blowtorch to get it off the spindle. But once setup was done it is a solid piece of equipment.
What a piece of crap. I hope someone from Delta, or who ever owns this outfit at the moment is going to read this. Globalization at its worst. America is loosing its pride by selling out to the fast and furious Chinese.
To put it mildly, it was a waste of time to take this piece of junk out of the box. The base was all bent up and the paint (powder coating) de-laminated from the sheet metal all over the place. Nothing lined up and it would have taken a 55 gallon drum of acetone or probably MEK do de-grease this thing. We... more info
Exactly what he expected! This was for my husband's wood working shop. He carefully researched and chose this wood jointer for both quality and price. It is exactly what he expected it to be. It does the job it was designed to do and does it very well. He couldn't be happier!
