parenting Very educational tool for a parent or a pre-parent...every person needs to read this book
What a wonderful gift to parents and to the children fortunate enough to have those parents! I've found a terrific memoir written by a brilliant woman trained in child psychiatry whose path was influenced by a need to heal the damages of her own childhood. That's How the Light Gets In: Memoir of a Psychiatrist by Susan Rako, M.D. owes its title to a song by Leonard Cohen: "There is a crack, a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in." Rako's book is remarkably candid, fascinating, and wonderfully well-written. It's a great read. The writing just flows.
Parenting from the inside out If you want to avoid making the same mistakes your parents made, if you know there is a better way of parenting than the one you have been exposed to, if you want to be a better parent. or if you want to parent with compassion and understanding.
