I spent a few years up there in Red Cliffs Victoria
in the 1940's and heard many stories of the settlement of Red Cliffs. I
knew many of the ex-soldier's children and visited some of the ex-soldiers
and their wives.
After WWI a train load of ex-soldiers pulled
up near what is now Red Cliffs but was then dry land covered with mallee
scrub. They had to pitch their tents to use for shelter while they cleared
the land. Today the huge machine used for clearing is in the park in Red
Cliffs.
Red Cliffs is close to Mildura and located on the Murray River
